Oita Access Guide

Oita Airport is connected to major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Kagoshima and Okinawa. From the airport you can take airport shuttles to Oita Station, Beppu or Yufuin direct. The journey from the airport to town takes around 1 hour by bus or car.


From Fukuoka Station, it takes 2 hours to reach Oita Prefecture. Oita is connected with the Shinkansen bullet trains bound for Osaka, Kyoto, Yokohama and Tokyo. 

Within the Kyushu Prefecture,the main JR Nippo Line connects Oita to Miyazaki Prefecture in the south, and the north through Beppu and Nakatsu. The Hohi Line connects Aso to Kumamoto Prefecture. Lastly, the Kyudai line connects Yufuin to Kurume.

You can consider buying the Kyushu Zone round-trip ticket that gives you unlimited access to any local JR line, including the Limited Express and Express Trains within Kyushu, and JR Kyushu buses.This pass is available at major JR stations. Tickets are valid for five days.

Ferries ply between Kobe and Osaka to Oita run by the Kansai Kisen Ferry.
Regular overnight ferries join Oita and the Kansai area.
