I Went to a Japanese Dog Festival and it was Amazing!

It's difficult to have a pet in Japanese cities, many apartments are too small and most landlords don't allow pets. Cat lovers get around this by visiting the hundreds of cat cafés across Japan in order to get a dose of feline cuteness. But dog lovers are out of luck really, with only a handful of dog cafés across Japan. I really miss my dog back home so I decided to go to the 'Yoyogi Park Wanwan Carnival' to hopefully get a glance at some cute dogs. I was definitely not disappointed!

There were lots of stalls selling dog clothes, dog food, dog furniture.. basically dog everything! There were also dog grooming services and vet check ups. I was also surprised to see on-stage high five competitions, with winning pups getting a gift bag full of dog treats.

As I don't have a dog here in Japan, the main attraction for me was that there were cute dogs everywhere! I will never stop being surprised by how many Japanese people dress their dogs up in all sorts of costumes and quite often push their pups around in prams. Sometimes you'll see someone pushing around a cart filled with about 5 dogs in which is quite a sight to behold.

If you're a dog lover I'd definitely recommend checking out one of these festivals. The dog owners are very happy for you to come over and take photos and pet their dogs. They are like proud parents. A kind lady even let my boyfriend hold her Shiba Inu puppy and I don't think he's ever been so happy in his whole life.
