Kawaii Monster Cafe – a visit to Tokyo’s most colorful theme café

Before entering the restaurant, you can decide at which area you would like to sit. The whole Kawaii Monster Café is designed by Sebastian Masuda, an icon of Japan’s kawaii movement who also brought up the style of the singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. So you can choose one of four crazy areas named MUSHROOM DISCO, MILK STAND, BAR EXPERIMENT and MEL-TEA ROOM.
One of the monster staff members will bring you to your seat, first passing by the SWEETS GO ROUND, looking like a huge cake, there dancing shows are held from time to time. Everything is colorful and the music is very loud. Don’t miss taking a walk around all areas of the café and definitely also go to toilet. Other to many other themed restaurants and cafés you are allowed to take photos everywhere, even of the monster girls working there.
At your table you find the menu as tablet inside a cute case with English available. The food and drink menu is as colorful as the rest of the Kawaii Monster Café and you have a lot to choose from. Some highlights are the colorful sauces which come with some dishes, colorful pasta and a lot of colorful sweets as cake, popcorn and parfait. At the website you also can already get used to the prices of all the dishes and drinks, which are kind of expensive. However, this is normal for themed restaurants, isn’t it? Each guest is requested to order at least one drink and one dish from the menu. Furthermore you need to take care that a table charge of 500 Yen per person will additionally be added to your bill.
Aside from the prices, the Kawaii Monster Café is a good place to have a fun time with friends at a pretty unique restaurant. It is located on the 4th floor of the YM Square building, close to Takeshita Street, opening from 11.30 to 16.30 and from 18:00 to 22:30 every day. Official Website: Kawaii Monster Cafe
