At first, Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel was not in my bucket list in the Osaka Trip as I think this kind of activity is for kids in theme park. Furthermore, the nearby attractions such as LEGOLAND, Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN and Cruise Ship Santa Maria are more popular. I can’t wait to strike them all! Who cares about the kiddos’ Merry-Go-Round?!
My travel partner turned back and looked at me said: “We’re late, the only activity that can fully utilise the card is catching up the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel!”
No way out. So, here we go!
Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel is one of the attractions in Tempozan Harbor Village. It has a height of 112.5 metres (369 ft) and diameter of 100 metres (330 ft). You may take Subway Chuo Line to reach there, merely 5-minute walk from Osakako Station.
Tips for those who are fascinated by vending machine. I found the cheapest canned and bottled drinks in Osaka on the way I walked out from exit of subway to Tempozan Harbor Village. Averagely, buying a canned or bottled drinks here is about ¥20-30 cheaper than other places. It was totally a personal experience. So, please don’t blame me if you could not find. Haha!
We reached Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel at around 8pm. It is located just next to the LEGOLAND. The crowd was not too bad. We queued for less than 10 minutes before getting into the box seat.
Awesome! It turned out to be surprisingly fantastic!
When the box seat went up to certain height, you start to see the night view around Tempozan Harbor Village. Buildings, people and street became smaller and smaller, illusion shrank everything into miniatures. The street lights and spotlights turned out to be shining stars, glittering from ground up to sky. When we got to the peak of Merry-Go-Round, we felt like we were the only two human beings in the world due to the over quiet ambient.
I started to feel thankful for arriving Tempozan Harbor Village at the ‘wrong timing’. In fact, the timing we reached there was the most suitable timing as the night views are superb!
For those who like Merry-Go-Round, Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel in Osaka is a must to try. It is even older than the Daikanransha Ferris wheel at Odaiba, Tokyo and the Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel at Kasai Rinkai Park, east of Tokyo. The whole ride is 17 minutes, offer a view of Osaka Bay and surrounding areas such as:
Mount Ikoma to the East
Akashi Kaikyou Bridge to the West
Kansai International Airport to the South
Rokko Mountains to the North
