If you going to stay in Ikebukuro, like I did, you gonna have a question "Where to eat?". Of course, it is a wonderful experience, just to walk in and try, but when you just arrived or have a very busy day in another district, or the opposite, in a hurry to start your journey, my first chose would be:
Ikebukuro station's Seibu (on the East entrance) or Tobu (On the West entrance). There are fresh made bentos, sushi sets, onigiri, takoyaki and almost every Japanese famous (and a lot of non-Japanese)food separately so basically you can build up your own type of bento) The working hours are 11.00-21.00, and if there are leftovers from previous day you can get them with 20% off (they just as good, just not hot) After you get your foo, you can get to the bakery, where you can get drinks and there are the tables for you to eat. Also, it is a good place to get food for dinner on your way out the station. They also sell cut fruits and deserts. My typical breakfast coast around 1000 yen with a drink. The drink is a bit expensive (400 yen) but without it, you can't use tables. But I found it is the fastest and easiest way to eat well on the way.
Coco Ichibanya (Coco Curry)
There are 2 of them that I found in Ikebukuro. One is in Sunshine city near Daiso, and another one's address is 〒171-0022 Tōkyō-to, Toshima-ku, Minamiikebukuro, 二丁目１３−１０ 南池袋山本ビル. They have the menu in many languages which is very awesome. Also, this is the best curry in my opinion. My usual is Beef curry, 200 g of rice, lvl 4-5 spice, mushrooms, garlic, chicken katsu, the price is usually around 1000 yen, you do not really need to order a drink since they provide water for free, but I like to order mango milk lassie.
The most expensive choice but one of my most favorite places for dinner. It's an all-you-can-eat kind of place. It has 3 courses to choose. Each one provides a wider list of menu. Courses are 1759, 2593, 3426 yen per person (not quite sure if the tax is included) plus all-you-can-drink bars are 509 yen per person for soft drinks and 1204 yen with alcohol. I usually choose 3426 yen course and soft drinks. This is a very fun experience, at first, they bring you the grill and the starter plate which in my opinion is not good at all, so I like to start to order right away. There is English menu available so you can order whatever you like. There is plenty of meat and vegetables to choose from. Watch your fire if you order fatty meat, it can burn, if the fire starts rising you should use the ice they give you. There is also delicious ice cream for dessert. Recommend to visit at least once.
There are plenty of them around the area. You can have quick breakfast there in early morning. I love matcha frappuccino. and sandwiches there a pretty good. But I use it only if I do not have any other choice, which is rear.\
J-world 〒170-0013 Tōkyō-to, Toshima-ku, Higashiikebukuro, 3 Chome−1, サンシャインシティ・ワールドインポートマートビル If you going there anyway, go hungry. There are two places to eat.
First Sangi's cafe Mademoiselle, I like to get Trafalgars hat curry (Just love curry, can't resist), but my friends got other things and they said they are pretty good.
The food court. There are plenty choices with different anime themes. Last time I didn't get there but this time I was in Halloween season so I went with the themed plate. Food is good and they also give you a postcard with those anime.
Milky Way Cafe 〒170-0013 Tōkyō-to, Toshima-ku, Higashiikebukuro, 1 Chome−12−8, 富士喜ビル
The last but not really the leat of my choices. I just never got the time to get a full lunch or dinner there. But it's famous for its deserts, so I got one that matches my zodiac and it was amazing!!
Anyhow, now you have some ideas where to go to eat in Ikebukuro. Hope It would be helpful to your trip.
