It sounds too good to be true, but two of the most famous sweets souvenir from Japan met up on a great collaboration. On one hand we have the fluffy yummy cake in banana shape and taste called Tokyo Banana. On the other hand we have KitKat, the famous chocolate and wafers snack which is well-known for all the different flavours it has.
On 15th November 2017 they started the official presale at Tokyo station. You can find the Tokyo Banana KitKat at the Tokyo Okashi Land (Tokyo Sweets Land) located at the B1 floor of 1st Avenue. Best is to use the Yaesu Central Exit if you arrive with a JR train.
I went there to get my hands on it as one of the firsts and it was very crowded. You needed to line up for a while at the cashier to pay your chocolate box. The staff members were also busy to refill the shelves.
You can get the Tokyo Banana KitKat in two different boxes. The regular box, which is including 8 chocolate bars, costs 702 yen (incl. tax). There is also a bigger box with 15 pieces inside for a price of 1296 yen (incl. tax).
But now the main question: how does the new KitKat collaboration taste like?
The chocolate outside has a slight bitter taste, which is a nice combination with the banana taste inside. And yes, this banana taste directly reminds me of the real taste of Tokyo Banana. Together with the KitKat chocolate and wafers it is really great!
In my eyes the Tokyo Banana KitKat comes out as a great souvenir from your travel to Tokyo. Not only for your family, friends and colleagues, also for yourself. So don't miss your chance to buy it!
The limited presale at Tokyo station ends on 9th January 2018. From then this version of Kitkat will be available at more places around the Kanto area including train stations, airports and highway rest areas.
