Dominique Ansel Tokyo’s tastiest treat - the frozen s’more!

Got a sweet tooth, and headed to Tokyo? There's somewhere that you really shouldn't miss - and that's the Dominique Ansel Bakery! There are two store locations in the city - one in Ginza, and one here in Omotesando. You may have heard of the name Dominique Ansel before - he is a French pastry chef, possibly best known for creating the cronut. He now has bakery locations in multiple spots around the globe, and as well as the Japan based locations he also has stores in New York, London, and Los Angeles.

The store itself is always pretty lively when it comes to customers, which always tends to be a good sign if you ask me! If folks are lining up for the food, you have to assume it's quality stuff.

It's pretty incredible watching all of the tasty treats be prepared. Here on the counter are trays of their famous cookie shots. Cookie shaped into a shot glass, and filled with milk! You have to love the ingenuity - and best of all, you get to eat the vessel that your milk was served up in.

If you had to ask me what my favorite treat at Dominique Ansel was, hands down it's the frozen s'more. In this version of the classic treat, ice cream is covered in a chocolate wafer, then a layer of marshmallow - and blowtorched to order in store. It's pretty incredible to see the speed they manage to crank these out with, but each one is perfectly colored - like it has just come from your very own campfire (but without all the bugs and the uncomfortable sleeping conditions!)

And voilà - the finished product! If you choose just one thing on the menu here, I'd have to say the frozen s'more should be it! Of course, there's no shortage of other treats to try, so if you're not in the mood for a frozen ice-cream/marshmallow treat then there's no need to worry - you'll find something to enjoy.
