Birthday girl 🥳
What is LAOX?
Laox is a tax-free retail store containing a wide range of products like electronics, cosmetics, appliances, jewelry, clothing, and so much more. They have stores all over Japan but the main stores are in Akihabara and Ginza which have also been certified as Tourist Information Centre’s by Japan National Tourist Organization.
Feel free to walk aimlessly around the various floors, reassured by the fact that you won’t have to stress about that 8% consumption tax and that the stores provide bilingual customer service in 21 different languages! 😲Laox is the perfect place to shop for yourself and others knowing that you can find anything and for a solid price. 💪🏼✨
Team Canada 🇨🇦 vs. Team Japan 🇯🇵
Team Canada, consisting of Norm from Tokyo Lens, Sharmander, and SherryBerry in Ehime went up against Team Japan, Chris Okano aka. OkanoTV, Natsuki from Abroad in Japan, & Shiori to see who could get Emma the best birthday present. Stakes were high as the teams ran around Laox collecting their goods with just 100 dollars (10,000 yen). 💴
Team Canada's Choices 💁🏻♀️
Team Canada & Sherry presented their gifts first and we’ve listed them below.
Laox Rolling Suitcase 🧳
For only 5,000 yen, Team Canada & Sherry spotted a Laox carry on suitcase. Since Emma travels a lot throughout the year, they knew this would be the perfect birthday gift. Although some of the suitcases in the front were scratched up, there were more on the fourth floor and a customer service representative happy to help. Norm even managed to bargain the price down on the suitcase leaving extra cash for the team to use to stuff it with fun surprises.
Price: 5,400 yen
giaretti Jared tea flavor Aqua bottle 🍋
Emma opened up the suitcase to first find this Giaretti water bottle perfect for infusing your water with fruit. For a fruit-lover like Emma, this is the perfect gift for the go. Not only can you filter fruit to create your favorite infused beverage, you can also use the fruit squeezer to create your own drinks like lemonade or orange juice.
Price: 1,800 yen
B-Side Label Onigiri Sticker 🍙
Next, Emma unwrapped a tiny onigiri sticker from B-Side Label. Team Canada knew that this would be the perfect thing to help personalize her new black suitcase. B-Side Label is a store specializing in fun, kawaii stickers. Not only can you find their stickers online, but you can also visit their store in Shibuya!
Price: 864 yen
Shibuya Location Address: 〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya City, 渋谷区Jingumae, 4−25-6 ハナエビル
Peach Butt Soap 🍑😅
With a laugh, Emma reached into the bag and pulled out butt soap in the shape of a peach. Containing natural ingredients like peach, honey, apple, loquat, kiwi, artichoke, and aloe, this butt soap is a very popular item selling right now as it removes keratin buildup and leaves you peachy clean. Since Emma is a little too shy (hazukashii) to buy this on her own, we’re glad Team Canada & Sherry could do it for her.
Price: ~500-600 yen
Kose Lip Gel Magic 💋
Since Emma is constantly on the go, Team Canada & Sherry thought it would be great to get her Kose Lip Gel Magic. Kose has been innovating their products by making them resistant against everyday problems. Lip Gel Magic works to keep your lip color from coming off during your day and keeps you from constantly having to reapply. Luckily for Emma, she was gifted a limited edition style.
Price: ~2,200-2,500 yen
Ito En Hydrogen Water 💦
Lastly, from Team Canada & Sherry, was a bottle of hydrogen water by Ito En. Hydrogen water has said to have many health benefits and is extremely popular in Japan. You can drink it, bath in it, and even us it in IVs. The health benefits are endless saying that it re energizes you, prevents cancer and other diseases, reduces inflammation, slows down aging, and much more. Since making your own hydrogen water costs thousands of dollars, Ido En and other companies have started to sell it bottled at stores.
Price: 200 yen
TEAM Japan's CHOICES 💁🏻♀️
Team Japan was up next and, although they purchased less items than Team Canada & Sherry, they still impressed Emma. We’ve listed their gifts below.
Seki Grandson 6 10000ST Petty Knife 150mm 🔪😲
Knowing that Emma is obsessed with fruit 😋, especially with persimmons, Team Japan decided to find a gift that would be as pretty as it is functional. Among the many kitchen appliances in Laox, they came across the Seki Grandson 6 knife by Kai. This knife can be used for a variety of cooking needs and is the perfect shape sharpness for Emma’s persimmons.
Price: 9,720 yen
SHIMOMURA KOGYO Fruits And Vegetable Orange Utility Knife 🍊
With the rest of their 10,000 yen, Team Japan purchased a utility knife from Shimomura Kogyo that is specifically great for cutting oranges, another fruit loved by Emma. What makes this utensil so great is the fact that it keeps your hands clean or “dirty free” according to Natsuki.
Price: ~550 yen
Emma received a lot of great gifts for her birthday and we have to give a big congrats🎉 to Team Canada & Sherry for finding exactly what Emma would have gotten for herself! ❤️
