About this sight
Located only a 6-minute walk from Kuramae Station, this shrine has over 1,350 years of history. Each year in June, the Torigoe Festival is held here. The main feature of this festival is the parade of mikoshi, divine palanquins, including the shrine's Senkan Mikoshi which - despite its weight of 4 tons - is carried by townspeople. It is the heaviest mikoshi in Tokyo. After traveling all over the town, the parade returns to the shrine after which the mikoshi will be decorated with lanterns.
