About this sight
Ichirizuka is the name given to the two tree covered mounds that marked the distance of 'ri' (approx 3.9 km). They lined major roads and were used as milestones in Edo era Japan. There are few surviving pairs of Ichirizuka due to progress and the subsequent road widening.
