About this sight

After touring the Inuyama Castle, guests making their way down the Inuyama hill may visit these red torii gates at the foot of the mountain. Built in the 17th century, this shrine houses three deities, which are said to provide blessings and safety to worshippers. Many fox statues – included in the name of the temple as ‘inari’ – can be seen amongst the grounds. Visitors can enjoy the ancient practice of “washing money”, and the attached office has souvenir shrine seals available for purchase.
