About this sight

Located in the Mie Prefecture, this Shinto shrine was established in 724 as a spiritual branch of the Ise Grand Shrine. The structure was recently relocated to accommodate improvements on the Sumida River bank, flowing adjacent to the shrine. As a result, most of the main buildings are new or renovated. However, guests can still observe the traditional-style architecture. Visitors may tour three main buildings, which enshrine the primary deities and receive worshippers’ prayers. The region is also known for its natural surroundings and sightseeing opportunities. The Sumida River can be seen eastward, whereas views of Mt. Fuji and Tsukuba Mountain are available in the west and north, respectively.
