About this sight

The largest limestone cave in Japan, its entrance reaches a height of 24 meters and a width of 8 meters. The cave is under the Akiyoshidai Plateau. Although about ten kilometers long, only about one kilometer open to the public. The tour includes numerous stalagmites and stalactites, including 26 well-known sights, such as Koganebashira (Golden Pillar) and Haykumaizara (Hundred Saucers). In 1952, Akiyoshi Cave was designated a Special Natural Monument.
