About this sight

The Shiretoko Peninsula is located in the north-east of the island of Hokkaido. Shiretoko National Park, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005, covers most of the peninsula and features a variety of fauna and flora as well as the largest population of brown bears in Japan.
