About this sight

A temple of the Jodo-shu sect and built in 1185, this temple is located near Tennoji Park. The temple's claim to fame is that the cremated remains of human bones are used to make its Buddha statues. People from all over Japan continue to donate such powderized remains to the temple. Isshin-ji's modern gate was built in 1997.
