Kobe Earthquake Memorial Museum
About this sight
Created in the aftermath of the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, this earthquake and disaster prevention museum is based in Kobe. The museum offers programs for visitors to learn from the experience and lessons of that event and even includes a special, separate museum aimed at children. The Kobe Earthquake Memorial Museum is also a research facility, and holds earthquake and disaster-related data and records. The museum also provides training programs on crisis management for local goverment officials, as well as an international training course for disaster management personnel from various countries.
