About this sight

Mount Goyo's, or in Japanese Goyozan's, peak lies at 4,222 ft (1,287 m). The surrounding terrain spans the three cities of Kamaishi, Ofunato, and Sumita. The virgin forests of hinoki cypress and canopies of rhododendron are home to Honshuujika (cervus nippon) deer and Japanese macaques. The view from the summit lets visitors observe the jagged rias shaped coast of the Pacific Ocean. The time required to reach the summit is approximately 2.5 hours (Kamaishi Station to Akasaka Pass course trailhead parking lot (ca. 30 minutes by car) and two hours on foot).
