About this sight

Held in front of Hachinohe City Hall, this festival is celebrated annually during mid March. The main purpose of the festival is to signal the arrival of spring and to pray for rich harvest. During the festival, a group of 30 to 50 members comprised of dancers and musicians of all ages parade through the city, while the townspeople watch and cheer along the streets. Its name is believed to have originated from the traditional Japanese farm tool called eburi, which the dancers used to carry in past celebrations.
