About this sight

This very old temple's Amitabha hall was built in 1328. Inside, visitors will find the standing Tamon-ten statue, a prefecture-designated cultural property. Originally located at the temple gate of Ryuchi-ji Temple, this statue was transferred to Hoko-in when Ryuchi-ji was abandoned. At the back of the temple precincts stands the Baba-sugi, a thousand-year-old cedar tree.
