About this sight

This walking trail, measuring roughly 24 kilometers, leads to Koyasan in Wakayama Prefecture. The trail is one of three pilgrimage routes cited as an important cultural property. The walk's name is derived from the 180 so-called choishi, or five-tiered stone signposts that line the way and are placed 109-meters apart. In its entirety, the walk takes about seven hours to complete.
