About this sight

Literally meaning sleeping dragon, Garyu Sanso is a mountain villa said to have been built by a Meiji era trader, Kochi Torajiro (b. 1853) to live his last years in his hometown, and eventually became a place feudal lords would chill out and ponder their next invasions. This gorgeously designed architectural masterpiece of a house includes a reflective garden pool and offers the best views that overlook the town of Ozu, its neighboring mountains, and the surrounding trees and Hijikawa river.
