About this sight

Located in the heart of the hot spring town of Arima Onsen, this temple is known for its 250-year-old Sal tree that blooms in late June. Nenbutsu-ji was first founded in 1532 in the Muromachi period. Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a warlord recognised as Japan's second unifier, moved one of his residences to this location. The stone wall above the main hall of the temple complex was constructed in 1712 and is Arima Onsen's oldest structure.
