About this sight

Based on the novel by Sakae Tsuboi published in 1952, the film "Twenty Four Eyes" directed by Keisuke Kinoshita was shot on Shodo Island in 1954. The film tells the story of the schoolteacher Hisako Oishi who lived on Shodo Island during the rise and fall of Japanese ultra-nationalism. All sets of the movie can be visited at the Twenty Four Eyes Movie Studio. The facility includes the Sakae Tsuboi Literature Museum and a theater showing the movie.
