About this sight

This summit is part of Japan's top ten highest mountains and climbing it is only recommended to advanced hikers. Standing at 3,106 meters tall, this peak belongs to the Hotaka Mountain Range in the Hida Mountains flanking the border between the prefectures Gifu and Nagano. Mount Kitahotaka, called Kitahotaka-dake in Japanese or sometimes Kitahodaka-dake, is number 9 on the list of Japan's 21 mountains over 3,000 meters.
