About this sight

This shrine can be found on the Mizuki Shigeru Road. Shigeru Mizuki was a Japanese manga author and historian, and this area is known to be his hometown. The shrine is said to be a gathering place for many yokai (ghosts), and worships many demons that appear in Shigeru Mizuki’s comic, Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro, including the sacred body of the Kuromikageishi that measures around 3 meters in height, the 300 year old Zelkova tree, the Medama-Oyaji, and the gate of Ittan Momen. The millennial consecration ceremony was held on January 1st, 2000, at midnight, and Shigeru Mizuki was said to have consecrated the sacred bodies himself when this shrine was built.
