About Karasuma, Shijo

Karasuma is located in the heart of Kyoto. It is the interchange between Kyoto Metro and Hankyu Kyoto Line. There are also many bus lines that make it easy to reach the Southeast, North and South. Around this area, you will find bustling commercial streets, financial institutions, office buildings, shopping malls and gourmet restaurants. Kyoto Museum of Culture, Six Corners Hall and NHK Kyoto Broadcasting Board are the major landmarks. It is only one stop away from Kawaramachi, the main shopping district of Kyoto. It is also very convenient to Kumamoto, Pontocho, Takashimaya, Daimaru Department Store and Shinjyoji Shopping Mall. This area has a number of Japanese-style hotels and restaurants. You can stay at one of the three largest royal hotels, Hiiragiya, Tawaraya, Sumiya, and dine at the Michelin-starred restaurant Nakamura. There are also lots of small bars, karaoke joints, 24-hour fast-food restaurants, international restaurants, and nightclubs.
