Kyoto Station

About Kyoto Station

Kyoto Station is the main transportation hub of Kyoto. Several railway lines such as JR, Subway and Kintetsu join here. It is also the second largest commercial shopping center after Kawaramachi. You can visit the Isetan Department Store, Kyoto Theater, souvenir shops and gift stores. The Cube and Porta are two commercial streets underground. AEON City and Yodobashi both neighbor the station. The landmark of Kyoto Tower is opposite the station. Hiroshi Hara designed the Kyoto Station building. It is a spectacular iron and reinforced concrete structure. There is a musical fountain every night. In order to preserve the ancient capital landscape, buildings must be less than 120 meters tall. There is a ramen alley upstairs. You can satisfy your stomach first, and then go to the tunnel on the roof to enjoy the night view. Although it is a train station, there are still many attractions worth visiting nearby. Honganji is in the north, Ume-koji Park is in the west, flea markets are held on the first Saturday of every month and the East Temple is in the southwest. A second-hand market called "Kofu-shi" is held on the 21st of each month. The Jintang, the five-pagoda, and the royal shrine are all nearby, and are local treasures.
