Tennoji

About Tennoji

Tennoji refers to the area which hosts Tennoji Station and Tennoji Park at its center. It harbors Osaka-kanjo Line, Hanwa Line, Kaisai Main Line, Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line and the municipal subways, forming a convenient transport hub. Shitennoji to the north of Tennoji Station was built in the form of a Buddhist Temple with a chu-mon gate, a pagoda, a main hall and a lecture hall. It is one of the representative temples built in the period from the end of the 6th century to the first half of the 7th century. In Tennoji Park, to the northwest of Tennoji Station, there are several scenic spots such as Tennoji Zoo established in the early 20th century and the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art, which exhibits Japanese and ancient oriental fine art works. Tsutenkaku, near Tennoji, is another landmark in Osaka. From the observatory deck, which was built in the style of the Arc de Triumph and Eiffel Tower, you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of Osaka City. Shinsekai is a gourmet paradise near Tsutenkaku. It offers various kinds of affordable Osaka delicacies. You can even try the famous ballonfish meals here!
