Shinagawa

About Shinagawa

Shinagawa ward lies on Tokyo Bay, with Mount Fuji to the west. It is a traditional area, founded in 1947, and was the first area to be developed by the Japanese government. It is also home to the very beginning of Japan’s Keihin Industry. The Shinagawa ward combines business, living and traveling, and is home to many noted historical attractions. It is also an important transportation hub and business area, and has been since the Edo Period. Shinagawa station is one of the city’s busiest stations and transportation centers. There are several great tourist attractions including the Tokoshi-ginzaeki shopping district where you can purchase traditional Japanese wares. The Shinagawa aquarium is wonderful for the whole family. Overall, a visit to Shinagawa is enjoyable in any season.
