Social interaction goes a long way when it comes to growth on social media or on platforms like YouTube. Instagram loves comments so if anyone ever leaves a comment on a post, you respond to it. Of course, if you have hundreds or even thousands of comments then respond to as many as you can within reason and without causing you mental harm.

Very sound advice Aki, thanks for this, YouTube can be a challenge when it comes to being consistent and desire for growth, for people JUST starting I wouldn't worry too much about the growth and analytics, just have fun and build a routine out of it, eventually that growth will come when the audience sees that consistency, energy and passion from you!

Before I was stationed in Yokosuka, I didn't know anybody IRL who did YouTube. But when I moved out there and was able to go to Tokyo on the weekends that I didn't have duty or was out to sea, everything changed! It's one thing to find your people online, but to be able to collab with people and talk shop in person really gave me the motivation to persevere on YouTube, and to get back to that environment!

Abso-fricken-lutely Daniel! You said it– don't worry too much about the growth and analytics when you first start. If you can be the most authentic you online and create content that you legitimately are passionate about, then your audience will grow naturally. Have fun, build a routine, and you'll be fine!

Fabulous words Danny! What a legend!

That's awesome Andy! It's so cool to know that you're a creator who knows his audience and knows what type of content he wants to create for the crowd he knows. Keep at it!

Absolutely! It's been difficult to keep that going when I moved back to America, but I plan on moving back to Japan so that'll be taken care of!

Awesome, thanks so much!!

I have a personal channel at https://www.youtube.com/AndySan/ and my editing channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAndySan/ .

I've been on YouTube since 2006, been making content since 2008. I'm an American raised in Ohio (which make jikoshokai funny) and I've traveled around the world as a member of the US Navy from 2010-2015. After I got out, I went back to America to go to college so I could come back to Japan, but I went through a rough readjustment back to American/civilian/college student life and didn't do so well. I took a break at the end of 2017 to focus on what I really wanted in life, and that's to return to Japan and make the best videos I can!

So now, I'm going back to college here in the States to boost my GPA and apply to a university out in Tokyo! I'm documenting my process in getting there as well! If all goes according to plan, I should be there at the beginning of 2020, just in time for the Tokyo Olympics!

Andy!! What a trooper! So excited you might have the opportunity to come to Japan during the Olympics (and stay!!!). We're going to be expecting HEAPS a people so welcome all! We will be releasing some education-focused content on TC Learn soon about how to apply for Japanese Universities and points to note about studying in Japan, so hopefully, those can help you!!

Also adjusting back to school life after a long period of time is hard for anyone– let alone resuming your studies in a totally different country. But you'll be fine! 頑張れ~
